Community Care Somalia (CCS), in partnership with SASDO, carried out an Education Rapid Needs Assessment in schools across Afgoye District to evaluate the current learning environment and identify urgent educational gaps affecting students and teachers.
The assessment aimed to generate reliable, field-based data to better understand the challenges facing schools in the district. Particular attention was given to:
- Overall learning conditions within classrooms
- School infrastructure, including classroom space, furniture, and safety standards
- Availability and adequacy of teaching and learning materials
- Access to educational resources for both students and teachers
- Barriers affecting consistent attendance and participation
Preliminary observations indicate that several schools face infrastructure limitations, shortages of instructional materials, and overcrowded classrooms—factors that directly affect the quality of education and student performance.
Purpose and Expected Outcomes
The findings of the assessment will support evidence-based planning and inform targeted interventions designed to strengthen the education sector in Afgoye District. By identifying priority needs, CCS and its partners will be better positioned to:
- Advocate for necessary resources
- Support school rehabilitation and improvement initiatives
- Enhance access to quality education
- Strengthen resilience within school communities
Community Care Somalia (CCS) remains firmly committed to advancing education and promoting community resilience through timely assessments, strategic partnerships, and focused interventions. Strengthening access to safe, inclusive, and quality education continues to be central to CCS’s mission.
